Images from other sites or your own images doesn't matter. What matters is the size of the image. Larger sized images tend to make the webpage load slower than necessary.

Yes, the size matters and anyways I would suggest to use your own server/folder because other sites could delete the pics on their server.

Always upload your own pictures, pictures from other websites are copyrighted, permission from site owner is required before your website can use their pictures.
