I don't think java is a wise choice for robotics. C and C++ in the other hand, are just the thing. Also Assembly.

Imo: C++, C#, Python, Java and MATLAB

I am not sure if Python and Java computer language can control robots. But C++ can!!!!

@Ammar AFAIK Python and Java are pretty popular for robotics. Raspberry Pi, for example, supports Python.

definitly C,C++ i have worked with atmel, pics, fpgas, arduino, lego, bioloid, Nao, and so on, and all of them can be programed in C,C++

I have used vhdl language por programming FPGA, it is a hardware description language, and assembly is a good idea too
