The technical term for what you want is penetration testing or more commonly referred to as pen testing, i also have an interest in this field. And to answer your question shortly no, you need to know alot more than just kali. Some topics you need to know Linux terminal- you should know how to navigate and do things Networking, you should understand the basics of networking from a software standpoint, you should be able to answer what is a port, what is a socket, what is dns, TCP, udp, dhcp. You should be able to write your own scripts to be ran on the target environment. You need to learn how the tools in kali work as well, and if you haven't checked em out there is alot. Send me a message and I'll hook you up with a book on pen testing using kali it walks you through installing kali and setting up your pen testing environment. Notice: ONLY use kali tools in a virtual machine, literally every tool on there can land you in prison with some nice long sentences

It matters what exactly are you learning As a James correctly said, kali has a lot of tools, it's a great distribution of debian but its not all you need. You need to also understand how does internet, websites, programming, end points, servers works so you can easier get into the specific situation of testing Don't forget to Google, watch tutorials , do courses, read books or just talk to someone who already works in that field to improve your hacking skills! =)

Kali has a lot of tools for pen testing. There is still a learning curve. You have to know what the data provided by the tools is for and what it does. Maybe ask about system securities testing. LOL people get squirmy on here when they see "hacker"
