What language can you recommend for process automation?

I'm currently trying to learn Python, because of this topic, but I want to know if there are other options I should check out as well.

2. What languages are used to program these robots?

Are you referring to test automations, automated deployments, setting up server environments, automating some development workflow, home automations, etc?
Depending on your answer, anything from Python to shell scripts to Powershell to Ruby to Javascript can be a good fit.
For devops related purposes, you can look into Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins, Team City, Octopus, Travis CI, etc are also good to be familiar with.
