It really depends on the type of hacking you are practicing. If you are interested in XSS (cross-site scripting), simple html and javascript is a must. Javascript could also prove useful to know for MITM exploits. I would also guess that languages such as Python and C/C++ are also quite relevant.

If you want to become a really good EH, I would suggest that you begin with learning Linux-terminal syntax and how it works, as you will be working a lot with this tool. The programming will become a secondary necessity to EH, since you will already have access to a lot of helpful tools and software if you are using Kali Linux.

tbh, not much of a language. i have a bit experince with pentest. its more on gathering data, filter them out, make use of them. and the main part get familiar with the tools. yeah TOOLS.
agree with Krysto there, linux terminal is the veeery bottom. some sql might be useful, but not all databases are sql. python, sort of some tools are written in python, but not much of actually write some python syntax. not limited to python though.
js.. yeah it depends, but in my experience at least its more common than python. some serverside language might help at some point, php, node, django, ror, or anything.

then again whats with this ethical hacking ? i mean what makes it "ethical" in the first place ?

Said, Linux terminal syntax is the basic, without it you won't be able to do magic..

Its good to know php, js, python, shell code, databases and html to become better eh
