Both are similar, the choice is yours and depends on what you want to accomplish.
Personally I went with C# because is easy to setup and Microsoft is putting so much effort on it, is a growing language. Plus, is cleaner than Java.
Both have pros and cons, is about your "taste". Both are good to learn since we can do almost everything with them.

I don't think I can make that decision for you. You could do both even if you want to. I like java better, but that doesn't mean it IS better

Uhh... Yes, Java is quite different than python, because python isn't based on C. But if you meant Java and C# are different, I they are actually really similar
