What are the differences ( primary & secondary ) between ECMAscript, JavaScript & jScript and why is it important as developers

I was looking at a few articles around European Computer Manufacturers Association script, JavaScript for Android, Java, iOS direct script, Swift for Android, and a few others.

BroFarOps from article of Flavio Copes:- ECMAScript is the standard upon which JavaScript is based, and it’s often abbreviated to ES. So as of 201x, the only popular language supporting the ECMAScript spec is JavaScript. The current ECMAScript version is ES2018. It was released in June 2018.

BroFarOps Always Welcome! 🍻 ES6 is the newer standardization/version of JavaScript, ( which was released in 2015. ) It has many new features and its syntax is also different than classic JavaScript.

Interesting how ECMAScript is actually more the hardware operating system language liken to Android... which interprets the JavaScript functions and jScript is liken to jQuery... jScript has mistakenly been called Java yet is a separate block structured language, as Sun named their style of JavaScript as jScript due to Oracle patent. *I see brother Morpheus has alot on the subject. Thanks Gordon for the link to follow Morpheus post to post. Always interesting how they try to dump everything into one house Danijel Ivanović and thank you for the link... More reading to explore 😁

I agree Schindlabua ... I'm almost certain after Sun and Oracle integrated they dissolved jScript <devalued> as a base structured language... Might still exist as a library but that is probably it.

JScript is (was?) also microsoft's broken implementation (extension?) of ecmascript. I think it's no longer being developed, especially now since Internet Explorer is gone, but you can still see some leftover oddness if you try to doubleclick a .js-file on windows. You'll typically see an error and something about a Windows Script Host. I'm not sure I've ever seen it being used seriously.
