Visual Studio Code is more powerful than any other text editors. Sublime Text ranks 2nd. Infact, VS code allows you to use features of sublime text as well, so VS code is a better option. (And no notepad is not good)

I also suggest Visual Studio code and sublime text editor. But I dont know why Visual Studio Code is using more than 1.2 GB ram.
