How to maintain studies and fitness equally.

I am a CS student. I have to focus on my subjects(school, self study etc.) and my fitness. But for me I can do only one thing, either to focus on my future or to maintain on my fitness due to lack of time. I decide to focus on my future but after some time I realised that I have become weak(extremly) because I don'tcare for my body anymore. Now what should I do in this situation ? What should be my primary task, future(job) or present(health/fitness) ?? What are the steps to accomplish it ???

in addition to what Hon Fu stated. make a schedule and stick to it. change your schedule slowly. by that i mean try not start working out 5 days a week immediately. start with 2 or 3, depending on you. build from there. you need to make it so that physical fitness is a habit and ingrained in what you do. too many people start with too much and then stop before it becomes a habit.

Think about it like this: If you get shoulder problems, back problems, heart problems or diabetes due to lack of exercice and overweight and all of that, the future you are concentrating on might take a hit when you can't do a sitting job any longer, or any job. The future you concentrated on, might not even last all that long in general. Taking care of your health means taking care of your bases, ensuring that you *keep* the ability to work in your main field. It is like writing clean code, test, debug and all that. It may take time, but if you don't do it, everything might fall apart. Start slowly, work up to at least this: 2 times whole body muscle training per week; 2 times conditional exercise; nutrition with lots of veggies, fruit and protein; get enough sleep; only little junk food. (Telling you is easier than doing it myself. ;-))

Alex, not at all! I know it's hard to fit in. But if you look at it, that's about the maintenance your system body requires. I'm not talking about crazy athletism. 45 minutes gym two times a week after work. Get up half an hour earlier two other days and run in the park. Clean up your diet. Think about it. If someone told you in order to become good (not a master!) at programming, 15 minutes once a week are sufficient, you would laugh, right? For some reason we believe the fitness gurus who say that 15 minutes sports a week are enough to remain healthy. Well... think again.

Growing a plant in your garden may be more fun than the gym, but it doesn't strengthen the body a lot. Please look at the facts here. It requires a bit of work, just like becoming a coder.

A body that's getting weaker and weaker because you just sit around and plant a flower now and then is not healthy. This is not about body building. Read the post of OP again: He has become extremely weak and worries about it. A healthy amount of sports with a direction is the way to take care of that.

I had to lose about 15 kilos myself a while ago. So I guess my 'war history' may have made itself felt in my answer. ;-)
