HTML is a markup language, created by W3C, browser creators (& Tim Berners-Lee), HTML 5 is latest, experimental version of it. If you wanted to ask "Please, what's the difference between HTML 4.01 and HTML 5", here is my answer: 1. In HTML 5 added lot of new tags, e.g. header, nav, main, article, aside, footer, section, details, dialog, figcaption, figure, mark, meter, proggress, ruby, summary, time, audio, video, source, etc. 2. In HTML 5 deleted outdated tags, e.g. basefront, big, center, strike, frame, frameset etc. 3. In HTML 5 simplificated notation of some tags, e.g. HTML 5: <meta charset="utf-8"/> HTML 4.01: <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8"/> 4. In HTML 5 changed: canvas, multimedia support, forms, departure from mandatory closing tags, no need of closing empty tags (e.g. br tag), etc.

Hi, You can think of HTML5 is a subset of HTML, since HTML5 just a version of HTML. This question is asked regularly. Here's the answer I found using the SoloLearn search feature: https://www.sololearn.com/discuss/682741/?ref=app Here's the oldest one I could find using other means, but there may be older ones: https://www.sololearn.com/Discuss/2717/?ref=app Here's the most recent one I could find using other means, but there may be more recent ones: https://www.sololearn.com/Discuss/1338112/?ref=app Please help keep the quality of posts high in this section of the forum, SoloLearn servers uncluttered, and app latency low by reviewing the following: https://www.sololearn.com/Blog/38/8-simple-rules-to-get-help-from-the-community/ Be sure not to miss the link to the Community Guidelines toward the bottom of the article. Happy coding! P.S. Please see the following post for a humorous interpretation (but still an earnest plea). https://www.sololearn.com/post/10362/?ref=app

What version of HTML you’re using is dictated by what doctype you declare at the top of your files. You can still use older html versions, though I wouldn’t recommend it going forward. If you see this tag: <!DOCTYPE html> at the top of your html file, that means your html will be interpreted by the browser as HTML5.

HTML is a markup language used in creating web pages whilst HTML 5 is a version of HTML. HTML 5 is the latest version of HTML. Thus HTML 5 is a subset of HTML.
