Run code as feedback on test questions.

Question

Have the developers considered allowing us to run the code on test questions to see if we can get the correct outputs via trial and error?
By allowing this type of feedback, the experience would be similar to that of a real coding environment. Of course, we can compile outside the app, but it only adds effort. Perhaps it can be considered for future updates?

What do you mean by test questions? Do you mean challenge quiz questions? Some of them are code snippets and not complete programs.

I think being able to run it when reviewing quiz submissions would be a good idea. I usually skip the ones I can't immediately verify... I wouldn't want to "Like" a question that requires an incorrect answer.
I'm a bit ambivalent about allowing it in the Play matches/rounds ("challenges"). On the one hand, if the primary objective is learning, then it would make sense to give everyone all the tools they need to figure out the answer (including more time and access to the search feature). On the other hand, these Play matches/rounds are currently the only reliable way of grinding XP, so the gamification/fun side of the app would be drastically impacted. So I think the gamification of learning and incentive structure should be improved first before we revisit this. My 2c.
At any rate, this seems like a question only the developers can answer ("Have the developers considered [...]") so it would be better to contact them directly at [email protected] or via the in-app Feedback feature.

Thanks Sonic, Priyanshu, and Victor for your responses. Sonic, I did mean the quiz questions, and it makes sense that some are snippents and won’t output as is. Priyanshu, yes, I’m usually curious what the output would be. Mainly I felt that the error messages can help in instruction and feedback.
It’s fun that there are comments and question sections in this app. It really helps make it more personable and aids in all of us sharing info and ideas.

Thank you Janning for the thoughtful response. I agree entirely, and this idea of testing the code might be best only with quizzes so as to not hamper the system or gaming dynamics.
I’ll try to formulate a more careful question/suggestion and write the email you shared. Maybe the ideas can spurr some new and creative additions to the app.
