Personally I think it is great e.g. look at vs code which is like the best editor for me.
In combination with WebAssembly pretty cool and performant tools can be build.
After all everything goes into the web and why not using one technology for other purposes.
But there are deficits of using it, too. There are many blogs on this topic to look into.
In the end it depends on what you want to build and need to check what will be better!
