I recently found this micro:bit thing to be pretty appealing to my daughter. You can use either JS or Python or Blocks to play with it. Also, you can stream the code instructions to it through BT on your mobile, via an app.

I do think that children should hone their skills in logic and it's applications, instead of diving directly into 'coding'. Unless they begin to show genuine interest in typing code, it would be a good idea to take your time walking them in the right direction. As such, logic puzzles, games, or even chess would be a better introduction for children, if you're planning to get them into computer programming.

I agree with Hatsy Rei , personally don't think kids should be working with consoles, unless they like it, but if thier to young to understand what they want to do, its better to let them live while thier young, enjoy life, grow, play with paint , or do kid stuff and if they later on decide they want to code or work with consoles, well that's great news 💻 👆

I believe, as a kid, no kid would love working with consoles.. Lol
So, it'd be better and interesting for them to start with something easy like HTML, CSS which can produce some graphical outputs.

Try writting an awesome code with graphics and designs.
Since kids love colours and things that shine, write codes in web, CSS and Js then they will want to create their own stuff.
With the creativity of their minds teach them a little and boom their learning it.
That's how I taught my little sister.

I think using robotics will make them more interested to code.. using an arduino may help for the basic of robotics

I would have them do Scratch or code.org, there pritty kid frendly.
