Is PHP Good? That’s like asking: is French good? Good for what? For communicating with the French people, yes, for talking with the Germans, not so much.
The same applies for PHP, are you planning an online application (aka web application)? Or are you planning a mobile app? Or a desktop application?
If you are indeed developing for an online installation, then yes. Some might argue that PHP is only suitable for small projects, but as Meet Soni mentioned, Facebook is PHP-based, and I highly doubt that Facebook is a small project. I know multiple other PHP-based web-applications that cannot be considered small.
However, if you are planning a mobile or desktop app, then I would recommend another language like C, C#, Objective-C or C++.

Please be more specific: Good for what? There are many good languages.
The exstent to which a language is helpful or necessary depends upon what you are attempting to achieve. If you need to use store data, or interact with stored data on the web, then yes.
However, if not, you may be able to achieve what you want in Javascript.
