Raspberry Pi, C++, Wires, and Breadboards

I recently got a raspberry pi for my 13th birthday, and my dad has allowed me access to all of the components in his arduino collection. I also got a book about embedded Linux, but I'm having trouble interpreting some of the circuit diagrams. Do any of you have some tips I could use to increase my understanding at least a little bit?

Start with getting familiar with the symbols, then understand the concept of 'gates'. Digital circuits are all about 'logic gates'. When you get to understand the concept of logic gates, the circuit will make sense

Do a bit of reading on electrical and electronic concept. Do you know ohm's law, if you don't, start trying to learn it
