Every year non-PHP developers say that PHP "is dead", "deprecated" and so on. But PHP becomes better and better. Most of web sites are on PHP. This language is not going anywhere.

Not exactly true php might not be your best choice for back-end dev but the fact that there is so much php application that are running on the web gives a php developer a great chance in finding work. Think of it from a business perspective it's cheaper to evolve an existing applications than developing a new one

There is no "worse" or "best" language. PHP does some things quite well, in other cases some other tools are more suited.

I don't know much about PHP, but two main reasons why I don't want to learn PHP are: 1. I already can use Python good, which may be used as a Backend language. 2. It uses lot of weird marks and it makes it looks messy compared to many other programming languages.

I like php. I don't think people would use it so much if it were so bad.

PHP is the easiest learning code on the web. I learned a little bit of php when I was in 6th Class.. Php can make some awesome automation, programmable things that you can't even imagine. Many site's are using php to create web application, plugins, online software. Thus, a large amount of site are depending upon php language.

Maybe because of node.js(another back-end lang) and technological support from many organisations - like google. But PHP Is still a good choice for back end

The thing is that PHP was once one of the best languages to learn to work at the server level. In fact, it was considered to be one of the pre- requisites for hackers. But it was slowly found that PHP based databases were very easy to hack with a bunch of encryption and decryption techniques. Slowly, websites moved to databases constructed in C/C++, Python etc. because the security of data wasn't compromised with these. Other than databases, now the hacking world is also moving towards Python and Perl. But if you want to learn it, go for it... After all learning is of no harm at all.

To me PHP is the best. I absolutely can't stand Node.js. If I had to chose another language it would be Go. Your teachers are extremely dumb. PHP takes up 75% of the web and is in continous development.

A friend of mine once answered me that question with this article: https://eev.ee/blog/2012/04/09/php-a-fractal-of-bad-design/ I can recommend this article as it is very comprehensive.

php is a powerful and easy-to-use server-side language, it is in almost all webs, there are currently many frameworks that facilitate the development of applications with php, allowing to maintain an organized code. Large webs are based on this language as wordpress, including facebook that although it combines many technologies its base is still php.
