Personally I like using JavaScript and jQuery to get my bots main functionality. I then hook up that to Node.js server and parse the data with Python. Well that's just what I did for web scraping one time because I wanted to do it from scratch, I know you are asking about libraries, selenium should be fine stick with it and learn it well then move on to somethin g else.
