Start By Learning The ISO and TCP/IP models And Then Get Deep In Depth With Application Layer Model Protocols Like HTTP, FTP, SMTP and SSH And Then Learn About Sockets For Low Level Networking. And Learn About VLANs, VPNs, Routers, NIC, RJ45 and More!....

If You Want To Develop Programs That Don't Communicate In Anyway Like A Game Without Multiplayer Features Or Internet Use Then Networking Is Not Necessary.
