Where should I learn automation ?

With the increasing digital technologies automation fields like Robotic Process Automation will gain fame. So can anyone explain the needs and scope for automation?

Any work that is repetitive can be automated. This frees up time for humans to do more creative work.
Automation provides an easy way to repeat an operation as many times as necessary, whilst reducing the risk of human error.
As a side effect, it also captures and document the knowledge of how things are done.
