Music App [General Question]

I was just wondering how it is to create a music app where it’s possible to connect an instrument, like a guitar, into the device and you can play on it. I just need a topic which explain how the app recognizes the guitar. I’ve tried to Google it but I didn’t find anything about it... Any tips or topic’s name? It would be really helpfull. Cheers

Recognizes the guitar? You're talking about yousician or something like a guitar tuner? Every note has its own frequency. Higher pitch of course has higher frequency. http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/FretFreq.jpg Sometimes we need FFT algorithm which separates multiple frequencies from the one audio sample and we would be able to recognize the notes that the user is playing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Fourier_transform One of the hardest algorithms I've ever used
