PHP vs Node.js

Question

several friends has suggested me to code your web app in node but i dont know what is benefits of using nodejs.... cuz i know php well..... bt when i ask about writing code in php they u will get a best performance in nodejs in compare to php..
can u tell me what is difference between nodejs and php...????

Different Language. nodejs is javascript and php is php but they are bith server side languages
