Humanlike AI

Couldn't we have a AI learn like a human. Like it collects information and use it like a child. We should be able to make very intelligent AI. But, we have AI that just gets programmed to one basic task. Why? Why can't we make such good AI?

Because we don't know how exactly humans learn things.

Well for starters it takes many years to teach a person. Most "teaching" of AI will be between minutes and months, depending on the scope of the application. Do you want to spend 5 years training an AI only to find a bug that needs fixing and starting again? Also people learn from visual, audio, and tactile cues. That's a lot of hardware and code just to support all the data input. Then you have to feed it all the data. Anyway the AI systems we have now are based on human learning, it's just simplified down to a single understandable concept.
