First Project?

Hi, everyone! New to coding. I've lived in Japan as an English teacher since 2012 but felt very unfulfilled. A friend of mine suggested learning coding, pointing out people he knows who've gotten good jobs here even without knowing a word of Japanese. I am going through the course on JavaScript, and after I finish the course, would like to create my own program, just so that I have something beyond a certificate to show potential employers. What do you people think would be a good first project? Thank you!!!

max what type of programming are you interested in do you want to make game or make website's or are you just a hobbyist? this way I can recommend a project and JavaScript is not all that good on its own it's usually partnered with some other language.

Yusuf: I suppose in the future I'll be working more on website design (front and back end stuff), in which case, yes, I can see that Java on its own won't be very useful. It's interesting, but I can already see that I'm going to need more, hence why I'm planning Python and Ruby next. Though I wouldn't mind make a game or two as a little hobby.

That's good for front end use html and CSS and JavaScript and you could use something like wix code or WordPress to help make a site for back end you could use some framework like ruby on rails or PHP and SQL

Max I can't recommend enough the Javascript challenge of Wes Bos. Is what I did when I wanted to practice with the ES6 syntax. You'll definitely have more than one project to show off your js skills.

Ethan: That might be a good simple project. The fact that I HATE math would be a good challenge too. Forge: HAHAHAHA! Not a bad idea, but it'd take some creativity to make work. Hmmmm...
