Web development using GUI based Microsoft WORD (Windows)vs CUI based HTML

Question

Can we publish or create websites using Microsoft WORD which are as appealing as created by using CSS or HTML ????
If yes then why do we prefer HTML over GUI based applications which are lot easier than coding ....

I think you can code there, I've never tried it, but if you save the file with the correct extension then I do not see any problem. Although I think it would be really uncomfortable, it is much easier to use a traditional text editor.
