How are websites like duolingo and sololearn built?

I've been curious about it! I'ts been a while since I've done any programming or coding but I'd like to create a website or app of my own for English learners eventually. But I can't find out any information on how they're built or work?

The websites are developed in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and probably PHP. Right-click on the website and select View Page Source. This may give you a better understanding of how websites are built.
