Is LeJos better than the default Mindstorm programming,

my school wants to start a legi mindstorm club, but I honestly think than using java (LeJos ) will be easier for ne and have more advanced functionality. Is it worth the trouble of installing and using LeJos on my laptop, or is it better to just use the default Lego Mindstorm programming software?

It depends on the programming skills the teachers and pupils at school have...
The Mindstorm programming software is LabView based, which has a GUI and works with drag and drop. I think that is the best choice for kids just getting started. They can get the robot move without writing a single line of code. It is also possible to include written code.
LeJos is a Java API. There is a lot of example code for Mindstorms you can learn programming from. In my opinion a good motivation to start learning Java.
