Both are better than each other. Both have strengths and downsides. Think of Java's clumsy syntax with too many ways to do the same thing. The lack of value types, unsigned arithmetic and any paradigm other than OOP means only experienced programmers can benefit from it. Again, think of using Python to create desktop and android apps and interpreting them from source code. It's dog slow, and eventually it will annoy you. The Global Interpreter Lock (GIL) means there is no true multithreading. Also, once you get proficient in Python, you'll get rusty in the syntax of almost every other programming language. You'll miss semicolons, braces, parenthesis, etc. Summary: Java is better in runtime performance and good for OOP-loving experienced programmers. Python is better in programmer's performance and for use in nonComputerScience fields. It's your job to study the basics of both and choose the one you need.
