Payment feature

I'd like to add a payment feature to my website but I don't know where to start. I would really appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction. Information like what I need to learn and where I can learn it, would be helpful.

Remember: Google is your best friend. Try searching for something that works in your country, like Paypal and iDeal (netherlands uses iDeal).

Thanks Mohammed but I was looking for something more along the lines of implementing a payment gateway via code on my website. I'd like to use PayGate for this. But thank you for replying
