I need help pricing myself as a freelancer please 🙄

I have self taught myself front end web design. So Html, Css, JavaScript(kinda?). my portfolio website is being put together now. But how should I charge? By the hour? By project? I'm not the best with keeping track of time so I'm not so sure about by the hour. Any links or resources would also help me out. Especially marketing material! Thank you in advance!

It depends on the company, but most would like a price per project. Every so often you will find one that wants temporary help as part of their existing team with a per hour rate. The problem with a project rate is you need to completely understand what you are expected to do and how long it will take for you to do it. There will be things you didn't plan on that they are expecting so you must make sure the contract is explict as possible. My first attempt at doing this earned me half the hourly rate I was making working fulltime for a company. This was because of missing requirements that were discovered during the companies testing my finished product. It doubled my time estimates. Of course, if I had know at the beginning of the project, it would have increased the time a little, but most of the extra time was tossing code and redoing it.

Definitely per project. That is de facto. Be very specific or you'll be conned into extra work.
