I just finished a private cloud course in a university. A cloud is typically a pool of programs that are hosted on an organization's severs. Then the programs can be accessed through the internet instead of having it installed on the users machine. It can be private so only the people in the organization can use it, or public like Microsoft 360. A cloud requires a number of servers or hard drives and lots of memory in order to serve many people using these programs at the same time. We also did a lot of work setting up virtual machines as virtual servers. It is usually a large and expensive operation.
