Entry level software developer

What is usually expected out of an entry level software engineer? Does anyone have any examples of some of the tasks you’ll be completing?

Well a friend of mine does backend Java stuff and he had to do the Java certification before he was even given an interview. Then they asked him some questions and asked him to debug some code. After that, he and a few others had to write a code. He got the job. Then he spent ages working his way up. He's a junior dev, but he's got a promising career.
