Which color is more preferred in html? Which is more powerful?

I like colorful webpages. All my creations are but I choose very, very light colors for backgrounds and darker shades of the same colors or of analogous colors here and there to make it colorful. And I stick to the Black text, always; makes sense, my backgrounds though colored are light... Light texts on dark backgrounds are very rare in hugely popular websites so I don't do that. I do believe that great creations need a great color scheme.
And I have read somewhere that blue is a safe and popular color in web design. I don't use it much though.

It's not about one color, but about a colorscheme. I prefer darker once, but that really depends on taste.
