Good mobile application development practices

So I was hoping to see about getting some ideas of books, websites, and such forth that would give me good mobile application development practices along with good design practices. I know there are places like Udacity and such, but I want sure if there were any others that were just as good but completely free. Thanks everyone for the help.

You can try check out AndroidTutorials app by Arjun Toshniwal in Google Play Store. It is quite good especially for beginners. It has codes and result samples of various features of android development with general steps of how to write them. :)

Thanks. I actually found a fantastic book free from Microsoft that goes through the development cycle and practices and makes reference to the SDLC. :)
