Beginner issue :) How to replace standard bullet points with check mark icons from ionicons?

Question

I use ionicon icons throughout the website. I am thinking that it would be nice to replace standard bullet points with ion-ios-checkmark-empty. Can I somehow define this in respective class in css that would automatically replace all bullet points? or does it have to be defined before each li element? please advice :)
