Why zero ?

because 8/3= 2.6 and 4%2.6=1.4

8 and 3 are integers, not floating point values. I'm totally new to this, so I can't explain why 2.6666666666666665 is rounded down to 2. If you were to use floating point values (8.0 and/or 3.0), then the result would be different.
