when I have tried to start AI I have discovered that I am stupid

to be completly honest with you, what you really need is a strong math background to actually understand AI and machine learning and yes Python has good support for those

@Martin ofc that is obvious but we're talking here how to start it and be able to understand how it works and for that matter Python is the best right now
You need right tool for the job and let me just say that academic reaserch is where all this begins and than it's beeing applied in real world

Yes get comfortable with programming first. And than try to apply that knowledge. oop helps ofc. once you feel you're ready read the website i've posted you have fully working basic neural network there plus the author explains in detail all the acpects.
