What's the coolest thing you built and coded with Raspberry Pi 3 ? Also PHP is my only strong programming language...

Just order my first kit.... wondering what projects solo Learners have built. This looks like a really fun hobby to have!

media player, alexa, iot device, cctv system, networked audio/video conference system... the coolest thing is the feeling that you can tackle almost everything by hacking cheap old hardware to do what expensive new hadware cannot (see commercial grade specialized automation devices) i agree that as a pc replacement is far from an optimal solution: i'd say go with the physical computing stuff right away.

I only know PHP... so I know I can program it to do a small server, that's easy just install some software, but due to the lack of performance I wouldn't use it as a server for a website. making it a file server like my own personal cloud that's cool... but what else can can I program PHP to do on Raspberry Pi? I know enough JavaScript I can hack my way around I don't know if Raspberry Pi can handle JavaScript

@Jan Markus Well if I have to learn a new language to program raspberry, what about java...? Java suits my background more. Side-Note: plus learning java I can then learn how to develop andriod apps! awesome! But I will look into the javascript compatibility using the GUI Chromium browser as stated... because the next language on my list to learn thoroughly was JavaScript... So would rather do that than java... I just watch some videos on programming Raspberry Pi in PHP they were able to do some limited stuff, example make lights blink connected on the breadboard but I haven't seen anything really cool yet
